আত্মঅহমিকায় গর্বিত Doctor Faustus নানা রকম নিরীক্ষা শুরু করে। কৌতুহলের রেশ ধরে সে জাদুবিদ্যায় আত্মনিয়োগ করে এবং একপর্যায়ে নানা শর্তের বেড়াজালে সে নিজের আত্মাকে Lucifer বা শয়তানের কাছে বিক্রি করতে চায়।

পরবর্তীতে ভালো এবং খারাপ দুইজন ফেরেশতা Doctor Faustus কে প্রভাবিত করতে চায়। ক্ষমতালিপ্সা ছাড়াও সে স্বেচ্ছাচারী যৌনতার স্বাদ পেতে চায় । এক পর্যায়ে জাদুবিদ্যার সহায়তায় সে গ্রীসের অনিন্দ্যসুন্দরী Helen কে ভোগ করতে চায়। একপর্যায়ে ফিরে আসতে চাইলেও শেষ অবধি Doctor Faustus বুঝতে পারেন আর ফেরার সুযোগ নেই।
