Which time frame is known as the ‘Caroline Period’ of English Literature?

• 1625-1649-time frame is known as Caroline Period of English Literature.
- Caroline Age মুলত The Renaissance Period এর অন্তর্ভুক্ত একটি sub age.
- Caroline Age এর নামকরণ করা হয়েছিল রাজা Charles I এর নামানুসারে, যিনি ১৬২৫-৪৯ সাল পর্যন্ত ইংল্যান্ডে রাজত্ব করেছিলেন।

• Caroline is derived from 'Carolus' - the Latin version of 'Charles'.
- এই সময়ে রাজার সাথে পার্লামেন্টের সংঘাত চলেছে তবু এই সময়ে শিল্প-সাহিত্যের যথেষ্ট বিকাশ ঘটেছে।
- The Caroline period saw the flourishing of the cavalier poets অর্থাৎ, এই যুগে Cavalier Poets নামক একদল কবির উত্থান হয়েছিল, who supported King Charles I during the civil war.
- A group of lyric poets associated with the Cavaliers are called Cavalier Poets.
- এছাড়া তাদেরকে Sons of Ben ও বলা হতো, কেননা তারা ছিলেন সাহিত্যিক Ben Jonson এর অনুগামী।

• এদের মধ্যে অন্যতম হলেন:
- Richard Lovelace
- Sir John Suckling
- Robert Herrick
- Thomas Carew
- Edmund Waller.
• Their poems were trivial, gay, witty and often licentious.

• এছাড়াও John Donne, Henry Vaughan and Andrew Marvell - এই তিন Metaphysical Poets Jacobean Period এ তাদের সাহিত্য রচনা শুরু করেন এবং Caroline Age পর্যন্ত তা অব্যাহত রাখেন।
