• The Elizabethan period is known as the "Golden Age of English Literature".
- অর্থাৎ, Elizabethan period কে ইংরেজি সাহিত্যের ‘Golden period’ বা ‘সোনালী যুগ’ বলা হয়।

• Elizabethan period (1558-1603):
- এই যুগটি Queen Elizabeth-I এর নামে নামকরণ করা হয়েছে।
- একে English Literature এর স্বর্ণযুগ বলা হয়।
- এই যুগেই ইংরেজি সাহিত্যের সবচেয়ে বেশি বিকাশ ঘটেছিলো। বিশেষ করে নাট্যজগতে এক বৈপ্লবিক সংস্কার সাধিত হয়েছিল। চার্চের আধিপত্য থেকে ধীরে ধীরে মুক্ত হয়ে সাহিত্য রচনা শুরু হয়েছিল।
