Which period is called the 'Golden Period of English Literature'?

• The Elizabethan period is called the 'Golden Period of English Literature'.

• ইংরেজি সাহিত্যে The Renaissance Period এর স্থায়ীত্বকাল 1550-1660 সাল পর্যন্ত এবং এই period টি সে যুগের political rulers দের নাম অনুযায়ী চারটি shorter ages এ বিভক্ত করা হয়েছে।
- Elizabethan Age হচ্ছে Renaissance Period এর প্রথম age.
- এই age টির নামকরণ করা হয়েছে Queen Elizabeth I এর নামে who reigned over England from 1558 to 1603.
- এই যুগেই ইংরেজী সাহিত্যের সবচেয়ে বেশী বিকাশ ঘটেছিলো।
- বিশেষ করে নাট্যজগতে এক বৈপ্লবিক সংস্কার সাধিত হয়েছিল।
- চার্চের আধিপত্য থেকে ধীরে ধীরে মুক্ত হয়ে সাহিত্য রচনা শুরু হয়েছিল।
- এই যুগকে বলা হয় The Golden Age কারণ এ যুগের আগের যুগের সাহিত্য ছিল অনুর্বর কিন্তু এ যুগে এসে সাহিত্য নতুন মাত্রা পায়। .

3. The Renaissance Period (1500 -1660)
i) Elizabethan Period (1558-1603),

iii) Caroline Period (1625-1649) and
iv) Commonwealth Period (1649-1660).

4. The Neoclassical Period (1660 -1785)
i) The Restoration Period (1660-1700),
ii) The Augustan Period (1700-1745) and
iii) The Age of Sensibility (1745-1785/1798).

5. The Romantic Period (1798 -1832).

6. The Victorian Period (1832 -1901).
i) The Pre-Raphaelites: (1848-1860).
ii) Aestheticism & Decadence: (1880-1901).

7. The Modern Period (1901 -1939).
• The Modern Period (1901-1939) is divided into two shorter periods.
1. The Edwardian Period (1901-1910).
2. The Georgian Period (1910-1939).
- The Modern English period was one of the most significant literary periods.

8. Present: The Post-Modern Period (1939 ).
