Direct: She said, "I am going to the market."

• সঠিক উত্তর:ক) She said that she was going to the market.

- Direct Speech : She said, "I am going to the market."
- এখানে বক্তা (she) সরাসরি বলছে, "আমি বাজারে যাচ্ছি।"
- Indirect Speech (পরোক্ষ উক্তি) রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:

Pronoun পরিবর্তন (I → she):
- Direct-এ "I" (আমি) → Indirect-এ "she" (সে) হয়, কারণ বক্তা একজন নারী (she).
- Tense পরিবর্তন (Present Continuous → Past Continuous):

- Direct: "am going" (বর্তমান চলমান) → Indirect: "was going" (অতীত চলমান)।
- Reporting verb (said) অতীত (past) থাকলে, direct speech-এর present tense, indirect-এ past tense-এ পরিবর্তিত হয়।
- Conjunction যোগ ("that").

• Other options:
খ) "She said that she is going to the market."
- এখানে tense পরিবর্তন হয়নি (is going এখনও present tense)। কিন্তু নিয়ম অনুযায়ী reporting verb (said) past tense হলে, direct speech-এর present tense, indirect-এ past tense হবে।

গ) "She said that she has gone to the market."
- এখানে অর্থই বদলে গেছে! "has gone" মানে "সে ইতিমধ্যে বাজারে গিয়েছে", কিন্তু মূল বাক্যে অর্থ হলো "সে বাজারে যাচ্ছে" (ongoing action)।

ঘ) "She said that she went to the market."
- "went" (simple past) ব্যবহার করলে বোঝায় যে কাজটি শেষ হয়ে গেছে। কিন্তু মূল বাক্যে কাজটি চলমান (am going), তাই past continuous (was going) সঠিক।
