•  Despite/ in spite of/ notwithstanding যুক্ত Simple Sentence কে Compound করতে হলে --
i) Despite/ in spite of/ notwithstanding যুক্ত Phrase টাকে Clause বানিয়ে বাক্যের শুরুতে বসাতে হবে।
- এ Clause টা বসানোর সময় অন্য Clause টার Tense কে অনুসরণ করতে হবে।
- অন্য Clause টা Past Tense হলে এটাও Past Tense হবে। 
ii) মাঝখানে Conjunction- but বসবে। 
iii) অন্য Clause টা বসবে।

• In spite of/ despite এর পরিবর্তে Compound Sentence এ but বসে।
- বিপরীতধর্মী অবস্থা হলে Compound Sentence এ but বসে।
- সুতরাং, নিয়মানুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর - She was sincere but she could not reach her goal.
