• Imperative Sentence-এর Direct Speech-কে Indirect Speech-এ রূপান্তরের নিয়ম:
Reporting verb-এর subject বসে।
Said to-এর পরিবর্তে বক্তব্যের অর্থ অনুযায়ী ordered, requested, advised, told, forbade ইত্যাদি বসে।
এরপর reported speech-এর subject বা শ্রোতাকে object হিসেবে বসানো হয়।
তারপর to + reported speech-এর মূল verb-এর base form বসে।
প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী person ও time expression পরিবর্তিত হয়।
Imperative sentence-এর indirect narration-এ সাধারণত that-clause ব্যবহৃত হয় না।

Structure: Subject + ordered/requested/advised/told + object + to + base verb + extension

• The teacher said to the students, “Complete the exercise now.”
প্রদত্ত বাক্যটি একটি Imperative Sentence.
শিক্ষক শিক্ষার্থীদের কাজটি সম্পন্ন করার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন। তাই said to পরিবর্তিত হয়ে ordered হয়েছে।
কমা ও inverted commas তুলে দিয়ে to বসেছে।
মূল verb complete base form-এই রয়েছে।
Direct speech-এর now indirect speech-এ then হয়েছে।

• Other Options:
ক) The teacher requested the students to complete the exercise then.
- এটি ভুল, কারণ বাক্যটি অনুরোধ নয়; শিক্ষকের নির্দেশ বা আদেশ বোঝাচ্ছে।

খ) The teacher advised the students to complete the exercise then.
- এটি ভুল, কারণ এখানে উপদেশ নয়, সরাসরি নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।

ঘ) The teacher told the students that they completed the exercise then.
- এটি ভুল, কারণ imperative sentence-এর indirect narration-এ that + finite clause নয়; to + base verb ব্যবহৃত হয়।
