• Optative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে, Optative Sentence এর Direct form কে Indirect form এ রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম:
- "said" এর পরিবর্তে wished/ prayed বসবে,
- inverted comma উঠে গিয়ে that বসবে,
- reported speech এর subject বসে+ may/ might বসে,
- reported speech এর মূল verb থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত অংশ বসে।

• প্রশ্নোক্ত Direct speech-টি একটি Optative Sentence.
- Optative sentence-কে Indirect speech করার সময় Reporting verb 'said to'-এর পরিবর্তে ইচ্ছা বোঝালে wished এবং আল্লাহর কাছে প্রার্থনা বোঝালে prayed বসে।
- এখানে যেহেতু শিক্ষক এখানে ছাত্রের পরীক্ষা পাসের ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করেছেন, তাই wished বসবে।
- inverted comma উঠে গিয়ে that বসবে,
- Reporting verb-টি Past Tense (said) থাকায় Modal verb (May) পরিবর্তিত হয়ে Might হয়ে যায়।
- সবশেষে reported speech এর মূল verb থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত অংশ বসে।

Direct: The teacher said to the student, "May you pass the examination."
Indirect: The teacher wished that the student might pass the examination.
