The old man said, "How helpless I am!"(Change into indirect speech)

Direct: "How helpless I am!" said the old man.
Indirect: The old man exclaimed with grief that he was very helpless.
- প্রদত্ত বাক্যটি একটি Exclamatory sentence. তাই Indirect speech করার সময় বাক্যটিতে তাই said-এর পরিবর্তে exclaimed with grief বসেছে।

• Direct Speech এ আনন্দ বুঝালে:
- Subject + Reporting verb পরিবর্তিত হয়ে exclaim/ exclaimed with joy বসে।
- আর দুঃখ বুঝালে exclaim / exclaimed with sorrow or grief বসে।
- Inverted comma উঠে গিয়ে that বসে।
- Reported speech এর Subject বসে।
- Reporting verb অনুযায়ী Reported speech এর Verb বসবে।
- very/ great বসবে।
- adjective বসবে।
- বাকি অংশ (যদি থাকে)।
