Direct: The officer said to the soldiers, "Fire at the enemy."
Indirect: The officer ordered the soldiers to fire at the enemy.
- এটি একটি Imperative sentence হওয়ায় এবং বাক্যটি আদেশ সূচক হওয়ার কারণে এখানে "said to" এর পরিবর্তে ordered বসিয়ে Indirect speech করা হয়েছে।

• Imperative Sentence- এর Direct speech কে Indirect speech এ রূপান্তর করার নিয়ম:
- Reporting verb টি আদেশ বুঝালে order/command, উপদেশ বুঝালে advise বসে, অনুরোধ বোঝালে request বসে,
- Inverted comma উঠে গিয়ে to বসে,
- তবে, Negative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে not to বসে।
- reported speech এর মূল verb থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত পরবর্তী অংশ অপরিবর্তিত থাকে।
- Structure: Subject + request/order/ advise/ told/ instructed + object (যদি থাকে) + to + reported speech এর মূল verb থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত বসে।
