- A figure of speech in which lifeless objects or ideas are given imaginary life.
- অর্থাৎ নির্জীব বা জড় বস্তুকে ব্যক্তিরূপে প্রয়োগ করার কৌশল।
- Personification এর মাধ্যমে কোন জড় বস্তুকে কাল্পনিক জীবন দান করে সেগুলোকে উপমা হিসাবে লেখায় ব্যবহার করা হয়।

যেমন:
''There lies the port: the vessel puffs her sail:
(Tennyson: ''Ulysses'')
The vessel has been used as a living being.

• "The light danced on the surface of the water."
- এই বাক্যটি একটি Personification এর উদাহরণ, কারণ এখানে নির্জীব light কে ব্যক্তিরূপে দান করা হয়েছে, বাস্তবিক অর্থে light নাচতে পারে না, অর্থাৎ একে মানবিক রূপ দেওয়া হয়েছে তাই এটি Personification এর উদাহরণ।
