• Adjective phrase:
- যে phrase গুলো sentence- এ adjective এর মত কাজ করে, অর্থ্যাৎ Noun -এর দোষ, গুণ, অবস্থা, বৈশিষ্ট্য ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ করে, সেই phrase গুলোকে Adjective Phrase বলে।
- Noun -এর পর যদি কোন clause/Phrase বসে তাহলে সেটি Adjective clause/Phrase হবে।
- এখানে underlined phrase -টি noun 'The house' -কে modify করায় এটি Adjective phrase.
- অর্থাৎ, এই phrase টি দ্বারা The house টির বৈশিষ্ট্য নির্দেশ করছে।

2. The fox without a tail called a meeting.

• অন্যদিকে,
• Adjective clause:
- An adjective clause is a subordinate clause that acts as an adjective in a sentence and qualifies a noun or equivalent.
- অর্থাৎ, যেসব sub-ordinate clause বাক্যে ব্যবহার হয়ে adjective এর কাজ করে তাদেরকে Adjective clause বলে।
- এগুলো বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয়ে কোন noun বা noun equivalent (noun -এর সমতুল্য) -কে qualify করে।
- অর্থাৎ বাক্যে যেসব clause - noun/pronoun -এর পরে বসে ঐ noun/pronoun -কে modify করে তাকে adjective clause বলে।

• যেমন:
1. The house where I grew up is now for sale.
2. The woman who lives next door is a teacher.

• Clause ও phrase এর পার্থক্য:
- Clause -এর মধ্যে অবশ্যই একটি Finite Verb বা সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া থাকবে; কিন্তু Verb Phrase ব্যতিত অন্যান্য Phrase -এর মধ্যে কোন Finite Verb বা সমাপিকা ক্রিয়া থাকবে না।
- অন্য কথায় Clause -এর মধ্যে "Verb" Tense -এর Structure অনুযায়ী থাকবে, কিন্তু Phrase -এর মধ্যে 'Verb" নাও থাকতে পারে, আর যদি থাকে তাহলে Tense -এর Structure অনুযায়ী থাকবে না।
