Here, “on the hill” is-

• The house on the hill is very old.
Here, “on the hill” is an Adjective Phrase.

- on the hill” অংশটি house নামক noun-কে modify করছে।
- তাই এটি adjective-এর মতো কাজ করছে।
- এজন্য এটি Adjective Phrase.

• Adjective phrase:
- যে phrase গুলো sentence -এ adjective -এর মত কাজ করে, অর্থাৎ Noun/Pronoun -কে modify করে, সেই phrase গুলোকে Adjective phrase বলে।
- Noun/pronoun -এর পর যদি কোনো clause/phrase বসে ঐ noun/pronoun -কে modify করে তাহলে সেটি Adjective phrase হবে।

Other Options:
ক) Phrasal preposition: যখন একাধিক Preposition/word মিলে একটি Preposition এর মত কাজ করে তাকে Phrasal preposition বলে।
- যেমন: by dint of, in lieu of, instead of, in front of, in spite of, with regard to,ইত্যাদি।

খ) Verb phrase:
- একটি Verb phrase কেবল একটি main verb, অথবা একটি main verb এবং যেকোনো modal এবং/অথবা auxilary verb থাকে। main verb সর্বদা Verb phrase শেষে আসে।
- Tony might have been waiting outside for you.
- might - modal verb, have been - auxiliary verb, waiting - main verb.

ঘ) Adverbial Phrase:
- যে phrase বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয় adverb -এর মত কাজ করে তাকে Adverbial Phrase বলে ৷
- সাধারণত verb -কে কখন (When), কোথায় (Where), কেন (Why) ও কীভাবে (How) দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর হিসেবে যে phrase পাওয়া যায় সেটিই Adverbial phrase.

- She completed the project in a record time.
