• The doctor felt the pulse of the patient. Here 'felt' is used as a transitive verb.

• Transitive verb
- যে verb এর object আছে তাকে transitive verb বলে৷
- Transitive verbs এর সাধারণ Structure হচ্ছে : subject + verb + object
- Object সর্বদাই Noun অথবা Pronoun হয়।
- তাই বাক্যে verb এর পরে Noun অথবা Pronoun থাকলে verb টি সাধারণত transitive verb হবে।
- আবার intransitive verb এর শেষে preposition + object যুক্ত করেও তাকে transitive verb এ পরিণত করা যায়।

• Linking verb/ Copulative verb:
- যে সকল verb সাধারণত subject ও Subjective complement এর মধ্যে যোগসূত্র স্থাপন করে তাদেরকে Linking verb/ Copulative verb বলে।
- Linking verb-এর complement হিসেবে সাধারণত adjective বসে৷
- Subject এবং subjective complement এর মধ্যবর্তী verb কে linking/Copulative verb বলে৷
- অবশ্যই মনে রাখতে হবে - Linking/copulative verb হচ্ছে actionless.
- adverbs can be used before linking verbs if they describe the linking verb and not the subject.

• Turn, be, become, look, seem, remain, appear, get, grow etc. সাধারণত Linking verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
- কিন্তু এগুলো বাক্যে ব্যবহারে ভিন্নতার কারণে Action verb ও হতে পারে।
যেমন:
• The doctor felt the pulse of the patient. (Action Verb/ Transitive verb)
• The patient felt nervous. (Linking Verb/ Intransitive verb)
