Renaissance অর্থ পুনর্জন্ম।
Renaissance চতুর্দশ শতকে প্রথমে ইতালির Florence শহরে শুরু হয়।
এবং পরবর্তীতে তা Venice ও Rome শহরে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।
England এ রেনেসাঁ শুরু হয় ১৫০০ সালে।
এ যুগে আধুনিকতা ও রোমান্টিসিজম এর শুরু হয়।

ইংরেজি সাহিত্যে 1500 – 1660 সাল সময়কে The Renaissance Age বলা হয়।
