• Direct narration থেকে Indirect narration এ পরিবর্তনের নিয়ম হলো-
- প্রথমে Reporting verb-এর Subject বসে এবং তারপর Reporting verb (say/said, tell/told) বসে (যদি থাকে)।
- তারপর যদি বাক্যটি assertive sentence হয়, তাহলে Inverted comma (" ") উঠিয়ে দিয়ে conjunction হিসেবে that বসানো হয়।
- এরপর Reported speech-এর person পরিবর্তন করতে হয়।
- Reporting verb-এর Subject বা Object-এর number (একবচন বা বহুবচন), person (first, second, third) এবং gender (male/female) অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তন হয়।

- Reported speech-এ must থাকলে এবং reporting verb past tense-এর হলেও indirect speech-এ must এর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না।
- আবার চিরকালীন বাধ্যতা না বোঝালে must-এর বদলে had to ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে।

Ind: Kalim said that he had to go there.

Dir: Rima said, "Kamal must have his car repaired."
Ind: Rima said that Kamal had to have his car repaired.

Dir: The teacher said, "Students must obey their teachers."
Ind: The teacher said that students must obey their teachers.

অন্যান্য অপশনের ভুল:

ক) বাক্যে "I" পরিবর্তিত হয়নি, যা ভুল।
খ) "must" অপরিবর্তিত রেখেছে, যা অতীত সময়ের reported speech-এ সাধারণত ঠিক না।
ঘ) "must had to" হলো grammatically ভুল, কারণ একসাথে দুটি modal verb ব্যবহার করা যায় না।
