• Indirect Speech এর ক্ষেত্রে:
- প্রথমে Reporting verb-এর Subject বসে এবং তারপর Reporting verb (say/said, tell/told) বসে (যদি থাকে)।
- তারপর যদি বাক্যটি assertive sentence হয়, তাহলে Inverted comma (" ") উঠিয়ে দিয়ে conjunction হিসেবে that বসানো হয়।
- এরপর Reported speech-এর person পরিবর্তন করতে হয়।
- Reporting verb-এর Subject বা Object-এর number (একবচন বা বহুবচন), person (first, second, third) এবং gender (male/female) অনুযায়ী পরিবর্তন হয়।
- Reported speech-টি যদি let us দিয়ে শুরু হয় তাহলে তা কোন 'প্রস্তাব' বুঝায়। যেমন let us go চল আমরা যাই-হল একটি প্রস্তাব।
- এরূপ ক্ষেত্রে indirect speech-এ say এর বদলে propose/suggest that এবং say to-এর বদলে propose/suggest to বসে।
- তখন indirect speech এ verb-এর আগে to বসে না, reported speech এর subject এর আগে that এবং তার পরে (অর্থাৎ verb এর আগে) we/they/you should বসে।

- Dir. : Rahim said to Karim, "let us go home."
- Ind. : Rahim proposed to Karim that they should go home.

এখানে said to এর পরিবর্তে proposed to (প্রস্তাব করল) বসেছে এবং reported speech-এর verb 'go,-এর আগে subject (they অর্থাৎ Rahim এবং Karim) এবং তারও আগে that বসেছে। আবার subject এর পরে এবং verb এর আগে বসেছে should.
- Dir.: Rubel said, "Let us study now."
- Ind.: Rubel proposed (or, suggested) that we they should study then.
