Affirmative বাক্যকে Negative এ রূপান্তরের নিয়ম (Subject-এর আগে “Only” থাকলে)
- যদি কোনো Affirmative বাক্যে Subject-এর আগে “Only” থাকে, তাহলে সেটিকে Negative বাক্যে রূপান্তর করার জন্য ব্যক্তির ক্ষেত্রে “None but” এবং বস্তুর ক্ষেত্রে “Nothing but” ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
- বাক্যের বাকিটা অংশ আগের মতোই থাকবে।

Examples:
Aff. : Only God can help us.
Neg.: None but God can help us.

Aff. : Only the brave deserve the fair.
Neg.: None but the brave deserve the fair.

Aff. : Only he can do it.
Neg.: None but he can do it.

Aff. : Only an honest man is happy.
Neg.: None but an honest man is happy.

Aff. : Only a poet/poetess can write a poem.
Neg.: None but a poet/poetess can write a poem.

Aff. : Only a guilty man should be punished.
Neg.: None but a guilty man should be punished.

Other options:
খ) Not only the teacher knows the answer. – ভুল, কারণ এটি “not only… but also” কাঠামো এবং অর্থ পুরোপুরি ভিন্ন।
গ) No but the teacher knows the answer. – No but নয়, নিয়ম অনুযায়ী “None but” ব্যবহার করতে হয়।
ঘ) Only the teacher does not know the answer. – ভুল, কারণ এটি অর্থ উল্টো বোঝাচ্ছে।
