- অর্থাৎ, অনুপস্থিত কোনো ব্যাক্তি বা বস্তুকে সম্বোধন করে তারঁ উদ্দেশ্যে কিছু বলা।
- By using an apostrophe, a speaker turns from the audience to address a single person or thing.
- এটা এক ধরনের Personification ।
- এখানে লেখক প্রানহীন, নির্জীব বস্তুকে ব্যক্তিরুপে কিংবা অনুপস্থিত ব্যক্তিকে উপস্থিত ব্যক্তিরুপে সম্বোধন করেন।
- In other words, the addressing of a usually absent person or a usually personified thing rhetorically.

- An exaggerated statement or an extreme overstatement.

• Simile:
- A simile is an explicit comparison between two different things. Usually as and like are used in it. In simile the resemblance is explicitly indicated by the words.
- দুটি ভিন্নধর্মী জিনিসের মধ্যে As ও Like দ্বারা তুলনা বোঝালে তাকে Simile বলে।
- উপমেয়ের সাথে উপমানের সাদৃশ্য কল্পনা করা।
- যেমন: She is as innocent as a lamb.

• Catastrophe:
- এটি সাধারণত অন্তিম দৃশ্য যেখানে hero বা অন্য কোন চরিত্রের মৃত্যু হয়।
- Catastrophe takes place in the last scene of Doctor Faustus in which he begs God's forgiveness but Lucifer drag him to hell.
- The dreadful Consequence of the story of a tragedy is Catastrophe.
