• Notwithstanding being a rich man, he treats everyone with respect and kindness. This is an example of - Simple sentence.
• Simple sentence:
- A simple sentence consists of a single independent clause that expresses a complete thought.
- Simple sentence সাধারণত In spite of, Despite of, Because of, Without being, Notwithstanding ইত্যাদি দিয়ে শুরু হয়।
- একটি simple sentence এ শুধুমাত্র একটি clause থাকে অর্থাৎ একটি subject এবং একটি finite verb থাকে,
- যেমন:
- Notwithstanding being a rich man, he treats everyone with respect and kindness.
- এই বাক্যে একটি finite verb (treats) এবং subject (he) আছে, এবং এখানে, "Notwithstanding being a rich man" is not a clause, but a phrase.
• Complex sentence:
- যে sentence এ একটি Principal clause এবং এক বা একাধিক Subordinate clause থাকে, তাকে Complex sentence বলে।
- Complex sentence এর subordinate clause এর শুরুতে সাধারণত if, though, although, as, because, since, so that, that, until, till, unless, when, why, who, which, where, how, before, after, whether, while বসে।
• যেমন:
Though the class was lengthy, it was enjoyable.
• Compound sentence:
- এ একের অধিক principal clause থাকে যাদেরকে co-ordinate clause বলা হয়।
- অর্থাৎ Compound sentence এ দুই বা ততোধিক principal clause বা co-ordinate clause থাকে।
- এছাড়া Compound sentence এ সাধারণত and, or, but, yet, so, therefore, otherwise, else, both --- and , either --- or , neither — nor, not only --- but also ইত্যাদি coordinating conjunction দ্বারা দুইটি principal clause যুক্ত থাকে।
-যেমন:
- The movie was really interesting, but it was quite long.
• Compound-Complex Sentences:
- A compound-complex sentence contains at least two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.
- যেমন - Although it was raining heavily, they continued their hike, and they eventually reached the summit despite the challenging weather conditions.
