My friend said to me, “Why were you absent from class?”

• Interrogative sentence এর narration -
- said to এর পরিবর্তে Reporting verb টি ask, demand of, enquire of, want to know, wonder এ পরিবর্তন হবে।
- WH question থাকলে reporting speech এ কমা উঠে গিয়ে WH question হবে।
- reporting verb এর subject অনুসারে reporting speech এর sub এর পরিবর্তন হবে।
- reporting speech past indefinite tense এ থাকলে Indirect speech এ Reported speech পরিবর্তিত হয়ে past perfect tense এ হবে।
- Reported speech যদি Interrogative Pronoun (Who, Whom, Whose, What, Which ইত্যাদি) বা Interrogative Adverb (Why, How, Where ইত্যাদি) দ্বারা শুরু হয়, তবে if/whether বসে না, ঐ word টিই বসে।
• এক্ষেত্রেও sentence টির Assertive form বসে।

•  এই নিয়ম অনুযায়ী সঠিক উত্তর হবে My friend asked me why I had been absent from class.
