It is raining cats and dogs. What type of phrase is ‘cats and dogs’?

cats and dogs = মুষলধারে।
এটা rain- verb কে Modify করছে, তাই এটা Adverb Phrase.

Adverbial phrase:
এই ধরনের Phrase গুলো Adverb এর কাজ করে।
সাধারণত Adverb ‘কোথায়’ ‘কখন’ ‘কিভাবে’ এইসব প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেয়।

যেমন: The boy is in the street.
এখানে কোথায় দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর পাওয়া যায়- in the street.


Adjective Phrase: কোন Sentence এ Noun, Pronoun বা Noun Phrase এর দোষ, গুণ, অবস্থা, বৈশিষ্ট্য ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ করে।
যেমন: The fox without a tail called a meeting.
এখানে without a tail Phrase টি Noun অর্থাৎ The fox এর অবস্থা বোঝাচ্ছে।
তাই এটি Adjective phrase হবে।

Noun Phrases:
এই সব phrase দ্বারা noun এর কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়।
Noun Phrase কোন Sentence এ verb এর subject, object, বা Complement রূপে অথবা Preposition এর Object রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
To walk in the morning is a good habit.
এখানে To walk in the morning একটি Noun Phrase
