• It is time/It is high time এর পরে যদি subject থাকে তাহলে verb -এর past form হয়।
- যেমন:
- It is high time he changed his attitude toward others.
- It is high time we finalized our plans for the upcoming event.

উল্লিখিত বাক্যে It is high time এর পর subject 'you' আছে তাই verb -এর past form হবে।

ক) It is high time you give up smoking.
→ এখানে present tense (give) ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে। নিয়ম অনুযায়ী past tense হওয়া উচিত।

খ) It is high time you have given up smoking.
→ এখানে present perfect (have given) ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে, যা গঠনগতভাবে ভুল।

ঘ) It is high time you had given up smoking.
→ এখানে past perfect (had given) ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে, যা অতীতের আগের কোনো সময় বোঝায়। এই প্রসঙ্গে প্রযোজ্য নয়।
