ক) Adjective phrase
- যে phrase গুলো sentence -এ adjective -এর মত কাজ করে, অর্থাৎ Noun/Pronoun -কে modify করে, সেই phrase গুলোকে Adjective phrase বলে।
- Noun/pronoun -এর পর যদি কোনো clause/phrase বসে ঐ noun/pronoun -কে modify করে তাহলে সেটি Adjective phrase হবে।

খ) Adverbial Phrase:
- যে phrase বাক্যে ব্যবহৃত হয় adverb -এর মত কাজ করে তাকে Adverbial Phrase বলে ৷
- সাধারণত verb -কে কখন (When), কোথায় (Where), কেন (Why) ও কীভাবে (How) দ্বারা প্রশ্ন করলে উত্তর হিসেবে যে phrase পাওয়া যায় সেটিই Adverbial phrase.

গ) Noun phrase:
- Noun phrase হলো সেইসব phrase, যেসব phrase দ্বারা noun -এর কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়।
- অধিকাংশ সময়ই, noun phrase মূলত noun বা pronoun এর কাজ করে; এছাড়া অর্থ ও বাক্যের অবস্থান অনুযায়ী noun phrase বিভিন্ন ভূমিকা পালন করে।
- Do you know the man sitting in the corner?
