• অতীতকালের দুটি ঘটনার মধ্যে যেটি আগে ঘটে সেটি Past perfect tense হয় এবং পরেরটি past indefinite tense হয়।
- Before এর আগের বাক্য এবং after এর পরের বাক্য past perfect হয়।

•  অর্থাৎ, after এর পূর্বে যদি বাক্য Past indefinite tense হয় তবে after এর পরে past perfect tense হবে৷
- Before এর আগের বাক্যে past perfect tense হলে, পরের বাক্যে past  indefinite হবে।
Example:
1.  The students came after the teacher had reached the classroom.
2.The actor had left the auditorium before the audience stood up.

• তাছাড়া আরেকটি নিয়মানুযায়ী, After/When এর আগের অংশ Present Indefinite বা Future Indefinite হলে পরের অংশ Present Perfect tense হয়।
- He does/he will do after/when you have done.

• আবার, Future perfect + before + present indefinite হয়।
- অথবা - Present indefinite + before + present indefinite হয়।
- যেমন
1. He will have completed the task before you come.
2. He completes the task before you come.

• প্রশ্ন প্রদত্ত বাক্যে, শূন্যস্থানের পূর্বের, clause টি  Past perfect tense এ রয়েছে এবং পরেরটি past indefinite tense এ আছে।
- তাই নিয়মানুযায়ী, শূন্যস্থানে before বসলে বাক্যটি সঠিক হবে।
- Complete sentence: I had read the book before the movie adaptation was released.
