Euphemism' refers to -

• Euphemism is a figure of speech which stands for a pleasant way of referring to something unpleasant.
- ইংরেজি সাহিত্যে 'Euphemism' শব্দের অর্থ সুভাষণ, কোমল প্রকাশ (inoffensive expression)।
- অর্থাৎ অস্বাভাবিক বা কঠোর বা কর্কশ শব্দের বদলে কোমল, মৃদু বা শ্রুতিমধুর শব্দের ব্যবহার।
- They are polite, mild phrases which substitute unpleasant ways of saying something sad or uncomfortable.
- অর্থাৎ, কোনো প্রীতিকর বা দু;খজনক কোন বাক্যকে কোমল বা মৃদ্যু কর্কশরূপে উপস্থাপন করাই হচ্ছে Euphemism এর কাজ।
- Euphemisms are often used in everyday speech to soften difficult situations.
