- এই উপন্যাসের Estella হচ্ছে উপন্যাসের বর্ণনাকারী 'Pip' এর প্রেমিকা এবং Abel Magwitch হচ্ছে Pip এর বোন।। 
- ১৮৬০ সালে প্রকাশিত এই উপন্যাস টি Dickens এর অন্যতম সেরা উপন্যাস।
- গল্প শুরু হয়েছে Kent শহর থেকে।
- ১৮ শতকের গোড়ার কাহিনী তুলে ধরা হয়েছে উপন্যাসে - এমন একটি সময় যখন, ইংল্যান্ড অর্থনৈতিক ভাবে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে, কিন্তু তারপরও কিছু মানুষ থাকছে সমাজে, যারা নানা কারণে অসুখী।
