A determiner is a word which is used before a noun to show which particular example of the noun you are talking about. So it works like an adjective regarding modifying a noun.

Examples
My English class starts at 7o'clock
These students live near the college
The books are quite inexpensive

In the above examples, the words 'my', 'these' and 'the' are determiners.
