• এখানে 'The teacher told us' দ্বারা Indirect speech বুঝাচ্ছে। 
- Indirect speech এর নিয়ম অনুযায়ী reporting verb যদি past tense এ হয়, তাহলে reporting speech-ও past tense এ হবে।
- এখানে 'told' হচ্ছে reporting verb. 
- তাই if এর পরবর্তী clause টি Past Indefinite tense হবে। 

Complete Sentence: The teacher told us that we would have a field trip if the weather permitted.
