• Neoclassical period: [1660-1785]
- এই যুগটিকে Pseudo-classical ও বলা হয়।
- They imitated the ancient Greek and Roman literary work but lacked the originality of the writers of that age.

• এই যুগটি 3টি ছোট যুগে বিভক্ত।
যেমন:
1. The Restoration period: 1660-1700.
2. The Augustan period/ The Age of Pope: 1700-1745.
3. The Age of Sensibility or The Age of Johnson: 1745-1785.

• Pseudo অর্থ ছদ্ম বা নকল, এই Pseudo দ্বারা এই যুগের লেখকদের artificiality বোঝানো হয়েছে। কারন তারা লেখালেখির ক্ষেত্রে ancient Greek and Roman সাহিত্য নির্দেশনা কে অনুসরণ করলেও Greek and Roman লেখকেদের originality Neoclassical যুগের লেখকদের মধ্যে অনুপস্থিত।
- এই যুগের Literary ideal ছিল art's for man's sake, যেখানে human being কে সবথেকে বেশি গুরুত্ব দেয়া হয়েছে।

- John milton,
- John Dryden,
- Jonathon Swift,
- Alexander Pope,
- Henry Fielding,
- Daniel Defoe,
- John Bunyan etc.

• The Modern Period (1901-1939) is divided into two shorter periods.
1. The Edwardian Period (1901-1910).
2. The Georgian Period (1910-1939).
- The Modern English period was the one of the most significant literary periods.

8. Present: The Post Modern Period (1939 ).
