Change into indirect speech:
He said, "I may go to the market."

• Answer: ক) He said that he might go to the market.

- মূল বাক্যে modal verb “may” ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে।
- Reported speech এ “may” পরিবর্তিত হয় “might” এ।
- বাক্যের অর্থ একই রয়ে যায়।
- অন্য modal verbs যেমন can, will প্রাসঙ্গিক নয় এখানে।
- তাই সঠিক উত্তর হলো “He said that he might go to the market.”

Other options:
খ) He said that he may go to the market.
- "may" অতীত কালেও অপরিবর্তিত রয়ে গেছে, যা ভুল।

গ) He said that he can go to the market.
- "can" → "could" হওয়া উচিত, কিন্তু এখানে "may" ছিল।

ঘ) He said that he will go to the market.
- এখানে "may" কে "will" এ পরিবর্তন করা হয়েছে, যা অর্থ ও tense বদলে দেয়।
