“Amoretti” is a sonnet compilation of -

Edmund Spenser: (1552 - 99):
- He is called the 'Poet of poets' because many later English poets followed his art of poetry.
Some of his literary works:
- The Faerie Queene
- The Shephard's Calendar etc.

In early 1595 he published Amoretti and Epithalamion, a sonnet sequence and a marriage ode celebrating his marriage to Elizabeth Boyle after what appears to have been an impassioned courtship in 1594.
The type of sonnet being created by Spenser is called the Spenserian sonnet.
