উক্তিটি W.B. Yeats এর "Easter, 1916" কবিতা থেকে নেওয়া। এই কবিতায় Yeats আইরিশ বিপ্লবীদের ত্যাগ ও সংগ্রামের পরিণতিতে যে "terrible beauty" সৃষ্টি হয়েছে তা তুলে ধরেছেন।
